  • Need to Apply or Renew a Registration?

The Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design is responsible for registering and regulating architects and interior designers.

The Board meets regularly to consider applications for registration, to review disciplinary cases, and to conduct informal hearings relating to licensure and discipline. The Board engages in rule-making to implement the provisions set forth in its statutes and conducts other general business, as necessary.

  • Taking the NCIDQ?

NCIDQ Certification is the industry’s recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer’s commitment to the profession.

Professional interior designers who possess the NCIDQ Certification have distinguished themselves by demonstrating a specific set of core competencies, supported by verified work experience and a college degree. They have proven their expertise in understanding and applying current codes established to protect public health, safety and welfare. They are passionate about their profession and dedicated to its recognition and integrity.

Details about the NCIDQ exam and how to apply are available onCIDQ’s website

Did you know that being a member of IIDA means you can apply for theNCIDQ Reimbursement Fund? The NCIDQ Tuition Reimbursement Fund will award financial assistance to IIDA Associate members twice annually whom have completed and passed all three sections of the NCIDQ exam.

More Resources

  • Both our local chapter and IIDA HQ offer CEU events with IDCEC approved courses to help our members easily maintain their professional registrations and membership compliance. IIDA Professional and Associate members are required to complete 10 CEU (10 hours) every two years to maintain IIDA membership compliance. Compliance periods start on January 1st of even numbered years and end December 31st of odd numbered years. If a member joined prior to Jan 1 of an even numbered year, then their compliance period ends Dec 31st of the following odd numbered year. Members joining after Jan 1 of even numbered years do not start their compliance period until Jan 1 of the next even numbered year.

    For example:

    • If you became a Professional or Associate Member before Jan. 1, 2022, your compliance period began Jan. 1, 2022 and ends Dec 31, 2023.

    • If you became a Professional or Associate Member after Jan. 1, 2022, your first compliance period will begin Jan. 1, 2024 and end Dec 31, 2025.

IIDA accepts IDCEC approved courses, but if a member attends a non-IDCEC approved course and wishes to apply it towards IIDA compliance, they can contact ceu@iida.org for potential approval. Members are encouraged to self report through the IDCEC registry app or the CEU program host may report attendance directly instead. Some CEU courses provide certificates for self reporting. Members are recommended to keep copies of completed CEU certificates in case required to show proof of completion. Members who do not have or do not know their IDCEC number, should contact ceu@iida.org or search the IDCEC registry on the IDCEC website.
